A Notary Public, often referred to as a “notary,” is an officer who can administer oaths and statutory declarations, witness and authenticate documents, and perform certain other acts depending on the jurisdiction. All notary public officers must undergo an expended F.B.I. background check. A Notary Signing Agent (NSA) receives financial document via mail carrier (“snail mail”), fax, e-mail or other electronic format. Then s/he meets with the client(s) to review documents. The NSA directs the borrower to the signature, or initial, lines and notarize any documents requiring notarization.
